New FAI Collaboration Takes Off

Thanks to the adoption of an enhanced scoring system, the world of air sports is in better shape than ever before. The future looks bright for fans and athletes alike, with a far more transparent process of analysis.

Towards the start of 2017, the World Air Sport Federation (Federation Aeronautique Internationale) collaborated with Max Polyakov to introduce a new and improved scoring system to the field of air sports, that looks set to address many of the problems associated with scoring the event. Judges have always found it hard to keep track of the action, occurring as it does at such high speed across several miles of course. That could all be about to change, however.

The new technology was piloted at three events of the World AirSport Federation World Games that occurred in Poland in July. Their scoring system was a roaring success, having been reported as warmly received by both judges and competitors. It looks set to provide easier analysis for tracking performance and collecting accurate data, which will all provide a complete experience for everyone involved, especially the audience. The event was one of the best World Games to happen for some time, and the organisers are said to be keen to roll out the technology at a wider series of events in the futures. Max Polyakov also works on some other projects along with EOS to develop its new Platform that has been recently introduced ("Макс Поляков рассказал, на что способна новая EOS Platform").

This exciting collaboration is not wasting any time in striving to keep improving constantly. Already, the developers have hosted a hackathon to attract sharp young minds in science and engineering to compete to develop technologies that could keep helping upgrade the scoring system technology. There three winning teams will have the chance to refine their ideas in time for testing them out at the next World Air Sports Federation Ballooning Competition, which we have no doubt will be another big step forward for the world of airsports.
